<p>The article is devoted to the study of the phonetic features of the Yorkshire dialect, which is recognized as one of the most common northern variants of British speech. This paper presents a comparative analysis of the keyphonetic characteristics of this dialect in comparison with the British received pronunciation. The study examines the realization of vowels and consonants by speakers of the Yorkshire dialect, which differ from the standard British version, and identifies stable phonetic patterns of the Yorkshire dialect. Based on theoretical data, a table of correspondences and discrepancies in the realization of sounds hasbeen compiled, reflecting such processes asqualitative and quantitative modifications of sounds, simplification № 3 ( - ) 2026. 56 of diphthongal groups, aswell asspecific changes in the articulation of consonants. The empirical part of the work includes the analysis of authentic audio recordings and video recordings of the Yorkshire dialect speakers’ speech. The purpose of the analysis was to compare the theoretical material and assess the degree of itscorrespondence to live pronunciation. The relevance of the research is dictated by the lack of information about British dialects in modern linguistics, aswell as the practical need to update educational materials on phonetics and dialectology. Unlike many other regional variants, the Yorkshire dialect demonstrates a high degree of phonetic stability, which makes it a particularly valuable object for study. The results of the work can be used in courses of theoretical phonetics, regional studies and in the training of specialists in the field of interpretation.</p>
<kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>фонетика</kwd><kwd>вариант языка</kwd><kwd>социолект</kwd><kwd>диалекты английского языка</kwd><kwd>йоркшир ский диалект</kwd><kwd>Тайк</kwd><kwd>звуковой строй</kwd><kwd>произношение</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>phonetics</kwd><kwd>language variant</kwd><kwd>sociolect</kwd><kwd>dialects of English</kwd><kwd>Yorkshire dialect</kwd><kwd>Tyke</kwd><kwd>sound system</kwd><kwd>pronunciation</kwd></kwd-group></article-meta></front><back><ref-list><ref id="ref1"><mixed-citation publication-type="other" xml:lang="ru">Ледяева Е.
